About Engineering is Elementary
The EiE Project helps children in grades 1–8 develop engineering and technological literacy
SEE EiE IN ACTION!
Engineering is Elementary® (EiE®) is a project of the National Center for Technological Literacy® at the Museum of Science, Boston. Explore our research-based, teacher-tested, and award-winning curricula:
- Engineering is Elementary—for elementary classrooms
- Engineering Adventures—for grades 3 and up in afterschool and camp programs
- Engineering Everywhere—for middle-school afterschool and camp programs
EiE addresses America’s pressing need for effective STEM education in three ways: curriculum development and dissemination, professional development (PD), and educational research.
The EiE Project serves children and educators in grades K–8 with materials for schools AND out-of-school time programs. Our fun, flexible, and highly engaging curricula are designed to integrate with the science you already teach—while helping students develop essential understandings about engineering and the work that engineers do.
The EiE Project helps educators build their skills and confidence in teaching engineering and technology with a variety of PD workshops. We amplify the reach of our PD programs through a national network of collaborators—professional teacher educators who are qualified to facilitate EiE PD workshops.
We rigorously evaluate all of our curriculum products and PD workshops. We also share the knowledge we gain through evaluations with the national community of educational researchers.
