Engineering is Elementary

BOSTON, MA (June 2, 2015) Recent changes in Massachusetts academic standards mean that teachers will be integrating more engineering content and practices with the science lessons they teach. This new expectation can be uncomfortable for elementary teachers, who don’t usually take engineering coursework as part of their teacher preparation. The information technology company Oracle recently awarded the Museum of Science, Boston a grant that will help.

Today the National Science Board (NSB) announced that the National Center for Technological Literacy (NCTL), created by the Museum of Science, Boston, is a recipient of its 2015 Public Service Award.

An Engineering is Elementary (EiE) professional development collaborator has been named a recipient of the Presidential Award for Excellence in Science, Mathematics, and Engineering Mentoring (PAESMEM). Elizabeth Parry is based in Raleigh, where she is the coordinator for STEM Partnership Development at The Engineering Place, a K-20 engineering education and outreach program at North Carolina State University,

BOSTON, Mass. -- The Museum of Science, Boston announced today a $5 million gift from The Gordon Foundation, established by Sophia and Bernard M. Gordon. The gift significantly expands the Museum's ability to transform engineering and technology education across the United States and inspire young people to embrace the rewards and rigors of becoming engineering leaders. It includes support for new Engineering is Elementary® (EiE®) initiatives, among other Museum programs.
