Engineering is Elementary has a new professional development (PD) collaborator, Laura Keeling of Louisville, KY. Keeling joins a national network of PD providers who support schools and districts that are implementing EiE; she works with schools and districts in the Louisville region and adjoining Indiana.

BOSTON, March 21, 2015: Engineering is Elementary (EiE) founder and director Christine Cunningham will be the keynote speaker at a STEM Institute for New York City teachers on April 7. The three-day institute is part of a larger initiative, supported with $3.2 million in funding from the GE Foundation, to provide enhanced STEM professional development and career education instruction to K – 12 teachers in the city. About 200 teachers will attend the institute.

Representative Paul Tonko (D-NY) celebrated Engineers Week today by joining 22 third graders and teacher Vanessa Ford at Maury Elementary School in Washington, DC to conduct water-testing activities from the Engineering is Elementary® (EiE®) curriculum unit “A Slick Solution: Cleaning an Oil Spill.” EiE was developed by the Museum of Science, Boston at its National Center for Technological Literacy® (NCTL®).

Warner Robins, Ga. (Feb. 17, 2015) — Today in Houston County, Georgia, 25 teachers have gathered in a classroom not to teach, but to learn--about engineering.They're trying their hand at creating a package that will protect a living plant when it's sent through the mail--and learning how to engage elementary school students in the same engineering design challenge.

India and Jacob are off on a new adventure. In a just-released unit from EiE's Engineering Adventures(EA), the globetrotting teens who set the scene for each curriculum unit are visiting a friend at NASA’s Ames Research Center in Mountainview, CA. Naturally they get do a little aeronautical engineering!

As U.S. states adopt and implement the Common Core State Standards, teachers are increasingly expected to show that classroom instruction meets these standards. EiE has a new tool designed with this need in mind.
